Hair Do's

Paige is finally letting me do more things with her hair. We take turns who decides how to style it. It's been so much fun!! I'm still trying to let her let me do a side pony tail (to rock the 80's, like me!) It was her day so the night before, she decided she wanted me to do little braids (like a friend from school) and let her sleep in them. WOW!! She reminded me of Curly Sue. 

We decided to shave Blake's head because his hair grows so fast. It is amazing. Hopefully it will be a good length when we get home so I can spike it. He's still too cute for words!

Hike Day

We've had pretty good weather (high 60's with no wind) here in Denmark lately so we went on a cool hike that a friend told us about. It was so great to be outside. We went on the yellow path so both kids had fun finding the next yellow post. Blake officially became a true boy by peeing in the woods for the first time. Paige of course used her very wild imagination and was taking pictures of us using the sticks she found. Paige and Blake both walked the entire 2 miles. 

Birthday Card

I just wanted to share this funny story... 

I celebrated my birthday last week and the week was pretty hectic (see We Have News Below). Danny was on the phone a lot, had double days, we took a few trips, etc.. The day before my birthday Paige asked what we are doing 'tomorrow'. I said that it was my birthday and I was going to a spa and that Daddy was going to be Mommy for a day. She almost started crying when she found out that Daddy hadn't let her make a card for me (Danny was going to be gone all evening). So, she tells me to go to my room and instructs Blake to follow her. They need to make me a card. 

I close the door and am still listening to what is going on. Everything is going fine until Blake colors on her paper. She comes running in crying, says she is not happy with him, I should make him go in a time-out, etc. I asked if she got him paper to color on and she said NO. I said well, he just wanted to color too. Then, in comes Blakes with a big smile and says I colored on Paige's paper. He knew what he was doing, the little turkey. In the end it worked out. 

And, if any of you have been fortunate enough to receive a darling picture from my daughter, her people are the best I have ever seen. Let me just try and describe them - round head at the top of the page, stick legs that go all the way to the ground. No arms and a head full of hair - either really spiky or curly all the way down to the bottom. There are also big eyes and a mouth too!! My Little artist!

Things you take for granted

The sun - it has been shining for the past 5 days and we are all in such a better mood because of it. It really is amazing how much the sun does for you.  

Fresh fruit - I miss knowing that when I go to the Produce World, the fruit will be great. Here, fruits cost a fortune and you never know if it will be great. 

Cheap gas - I know the gas is also high in the states right now, but Denmark beats you.... by a lot. We are paying almost $7/ gallon. 

A bathtub - the kids and I miss it so much

Flip Flops - I miss getting to wear sandals, anytime of the year

A big fridge - ours is about half the size of a regular American size fridge... and too think many people have 2! 

Ice - I miss getting served ice in your drinks when you go out to eat

Free Water - I can't stand that we have to buy water at restaurants here

Book stores - I miss being able to hear about a new book and having the opportunity to go and buy it

Library - free books to rent 

An automatic car - stick shifts stink

A good park for the kids - the same one we go to is getting kind of boring

Walks - having a place to walk to.. either a friends house, a local store, ice cream parlor, etc.. 

Our Sledding Experience

We took the kids sledding for the first time. Paige absolutely loved it. Blake didn't hate it but he wasn't thrilled. Paige is much more the dare devil and the one who will try anything. Blake is much more hesitant, more shy, and definitely Mommy's boy! They could not be more opposite.. kind of like Danny and I, actually. Paige was such a trooper. She complained of her ear hurting but we told her to suck it up and enjoy the day. By the late afternoon the pain was too much and her and I made a little trip to the ER. I love the ER here. I waited 30 mins to see a doctor. No forms to fill out, no nurse to see us, no worrying over how much it will cost, just the doctor. Double Ear Infection. I sent the medicine to the pharmacy. Go now to pick it up. 1-2-3 Done!

We have News...

This was a tough decision but we have decided to stay in DENMARK (for 4 more years - ouch!). We are moving to a new team (FC Midtjlland), which is located outside of Århus - a much bigger city than Aalborg. It is also closer to Copenhagen so flights home will be easier. Danny was there main "buy" so he'll be starting and will be looked upon as one of the top leaders. Contract negotiations went well so we are pleased and excited. Aalborg came back with a pathetic offer and basically showed that they didn't value Danny, their captain. It will be sad to leave the team and our friends we made here but we think Århus is a much better place to live.

We visited it last week and the stadium is very nice (9 years old). The best part is that they have a playroom for the kids (so I can actually watch the game - yeah!) with free baby sitters. And, we get to sit inside. A huge plus! Paige even ran out of the playroom and yelled "I love this airport". It was great!

In the next week I am going to go look at schools for the kids. They will both start when we get back after the summer. I can't believe Blake will be going to school with Paige. We're also looking at housing and hoping to get a 4 bedroom so we can have an extra room... this means we need visitors!

Right now we are talking about not coming home twice a year. We feel like we need to take advantage of this opportunity and visit other countries - the ones high on our list are Spain, Greece, Italy, and England, again! 

We will however be home June 1st and hope to see everyone then!
